The U.S.S. Kidd is the only World War II Fletcher Class destroyer meticulously restored. This 369-foot ship is berthed on the Mississippi River in a unique cradle that holds it "high and dry." The adjacent Nautical Historical Center features a P-40 Warhawk fighter plane, a restored "Flying Tiger," and an A-7E Corsair Naval attack aircraft. A National Historic Landmark.
