Getting Around

The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) operates an extensive bus service. Downtown, MATA operates the nifty Main Street Trolley. Many visitors choose to ditch their cars and take the refurbished trolley cars, which connect the Pinch District, Riverfront, Beale Street and South Main Historic District. They also loop around the riverfront for a leisurely look at the Mississippi. Memphis is generally not a pedestrian's town, although downtown, along with parts of Midtown, can be seen on foot.
